SOLO RECORDS, TRURO (7TH OCTOBER)

GLASS SHARK

Solo Records in Truro continues to amaze as they showcase the quality of local talent to the unsuspecting Saturday shoppers. This well just doesn`t seem to be running dry at all.

Glass Shark were no exception and promoting their beautifully presented new E.P. `I Love My Disco Robot`, the three piece continue to raise the standard of performances witnessed within this revolutionary record shop.

Sounding even better in the flesh than on disc is a feat rarely heard, but Glass Shark are clearly a great live band. Matt Anderson, although having trouble with his lead connection, played a powerful, hard rhythmic bass across Tam Johnstone`s wild drum patterns as Jim Green`s Telecaster did the cutting lead guitar work. With a lead-singing drummer and fine backing vocals from the front line guitarists, Glass Shark are certainly different from the rest of the pack. The reserved and more clinical electronica of their recorded work is blown out of the water when they get together and gig. Distorted guitars and screaming vocals mingle with addictive rhythms, so don`t let the use of the words `Disco` and `Robot` fool you into thinking this is Pet Shop-world. The uniform skinny pink ties and black shirts give you more of a hint at the band`s clear love of 80s new wave and the performance was electric, (in all senses of the word).

Punky and loud, punchy and melodic - Glass Shark make you glad you stayed on dry land!
